Monica Ybarra-Rankin, Director of Human Resources

Monica Ybarra-Rankin serves as Vision Media's Director of Human Resources, bringing more than 20 years of progressive leadership experience in human resources, operations, employee relations, talent management, and organizational development. Throughout her career, she has built a reputation for creating people-first cultures that drive engagement, retention, and business success.

Prior to joining Vision Media, Monica spent over a decade as the Director of Human Resources for the Downtown Seattle Association and Metropolitan Improvement District, where she led all aspects of the employee experience, including talent acquisition, leadership development, compensation and benefits, employee relations, compliance, and strategic workforce planning. She has successfully guided organizations through periods of significant growth, implemented HR technology solutions, developed high-performing teams, and championed innovative programs focused on employee well-being and retention.

Monica is passionate about helping organizations align their people strategies with business objectives while fostering cultures where employees feel valued, supported, and empowered to do their best work. Her expertise spans both nonprofit and private-sector environments, and she brings a collaborative, solutions-focused approach to every challenge. In addition to her HR leadership experience, Monica serves as an adjunct faculty member at South Seattle College, where she teaches employment readiness and life skills courses to justice-impacted individuals.

When she's not working, Monica enjoys traveling, staying active through fitness and workouts, attending sporting events and concerts, and keeping up with all things Bravo. Most of all, she treasures spending time with her daughter, Keira, and her beloved puppy, Oliver.
